How it all began:
In my early to mid twenties I was on the large side and very unfit, 17½ stone to be precise. One morning I decided something had to change. The constant feeling of being overweight, followed by the tiredness and constant exhaustion with every little move finally got me down. I decided I needed to start exercising. Originally it all began with light jogging which surprisingly to me I enjoyed very much, I started to see the benefits of exercise and my body finally changing shape.
I couldn’t get enough, call me Forrest Gump if you like (for those who have seen the film), this led to intensive running which I took very seriously, in turn led to the challenge of the Marathon. Over the course of the next 10 years I completed 13 full Marathons, including the London 5 times, and over 100 Half Marathons.
Everything was going brilliantly, I had lost the weight, felt the fittest I had in years until due to a tragic accident and a subsequent operation I was advised to put an end to my running, so was forced to look for an alternative method of exercise.
It was then that I attended my first Aerobics class. The first class was good but there was something missing, which I couldn’t pin point. I tried many classes including , step aerobics, circuit training, gymnasium’s, health centre's etc., but found the classes I enjoyed the most were Aerobics, my next challenge was to find a class I could relax in, get fit and come out smiling – a class that really suited my needs.
On my quest to find a class I visited many sports centre's, gymnasiums and even aerobic conventions. There were many fantastic and talented teachers and the teacher that I found inspired me the most was surprisingly a male instructor.
So, in December 1992 I took the plunge and enrolled on a course to become an Aerobics Instructor, and in May 1993 qualified to be an American Fitness Aerobics Association (A.F.A.A.) Instructor, continuingly qualifying to teach for a number of different fitness organisations and shortly afterwards starting my own Aerobics Classes
